Aviva works with clients to foster and establish a trusting and safe environment in order to have an honest exploration of feelings and experiences. Aviva uses psychodynamic and relational approaches to explore the unique experiences of each person. Aviva believes that trauma can inform the way a person can experience their world, and that wide-reaching transformation is possible when a collaborative and affirming space is provided. Aviva specializes in work with queer and trans individuals, as well as individuals who are navigating their identities in relation to insular or religious communities. Aviva completed a Masters degree in Social Work at New York University. Aviva’s studies focused on incorporating critical race theory and queer theory into her therapeutic practice. Aviva teaches Practice Lab to BSW students at the Hunter College, Silberman School of Social Work.
